Getting around

Kempegowda International Airport is 35 km north, 60 to 120 minutes by cab or about 75 minutes on the Vayu Vajra airport bus. The Namma Metro's purple and green lines cover the centre well and beat traffic; app cabs and autos handle the rest. Avoid crossing the city between 8-11am and 5-9pm if you can help it.

Safety

Bengaluru is safe and cosmopolitan, with the usual big-city petty theft on crowded transport. Traffic is the real hazard, so cross carefully and insist on helmets for bike taxis. Bars close relatively early under city rules, around 1am. Solo women travellers generally find it among India's easier cities, though app cabs are still the sensible choice at night.
