Getting around

Dallas is large and car-oriented, so a rental car or rideshare is usually the easiest way to get around, with attractions spread across the metroplex. The DART light rail and the free downtown D-Link and McKinney Avenue trolley connect some central areas like downtown, the Arts District and Uptown, useful for those zones. For Bishop Arts, Deep Ellum and outlying spots, rideshare is most convenient, and traffic can be heavy at rush hour.

Safety

Dallas is generally safe in its main tourist and central districts like the Arts District, Uptown, Bishop Arts and Deep Ellum, with normal big-city precautions advised, especially at night and in quieter downtown areas. Use rideshare after dark rather than walking long distances, keep valuables out of sight in cars, and apply standard urban awareness outside the central, well-trafficked neighbourhoods.
