Hidden gems
- Sunset from Nahargarh Fort over the whole pink city.
- Panna Meena ka Kund, a perfectly symmetrical stepwell near Amber.
- A masala chai and kachori at a busy old-city sweet shop.
- The Anokhi museum of hand block printing in a restored haveli.
Getting around
Hire a driver for the day or use Uber/Ola, the cheapest, simplest way to cover the spread-out forts. Auto-rickshaws are fine for short hops if you agree the fare first. The old-city bazaars are best on foot, and a local guide is worth it for context.
Safety
Jaipur is generally safe but intense; solo women should dress modestly and use registered cabs after dark. Be firm with persistent touts and 'helpful' strangers steering you to shops for commission. Drink only bottled or filtered water, eat at busy stalls, and pace yourself in the heat.
