Getting around
The centre is entirely walkable and largely car-free; you won't need transport within the city. Rent a city bike (BicikeLJ) for the parks and riverside. For day trips, buses to Bled and Lake Bohinj leave from the central station and are cheap and frequent.
Safety
Ljubljana is very safe and relaxed, including at night and for solo women. Crime against tourists is rare. The main planning note is that many smaller shops close early and on Sundays. Tap water is excellent. It's an easy, low-stress introduction to solo travel in Europe.
