Getting around

Fly into Sorong (SOQ) via Jakarta or Makassar, then take the 2 hour public ferry to Waisai. From Waisai, homestays and resorts arrange speedboat transfers. Between islands you move by boat only; agree on prices before boarding.

Safety

Raja Ampat is very safe from crime, but the risks are environmental: strong currents on dives, sun exposure, and limited medical facilities. Dive within your certification, bring reef-safe sunscreen and a basic first aid kit, and make sure your insurance covers evacuation and diving.
