Getting around

Riyadh is enormous and built for cars; walking between districts isn't realistic. The new Riyadh Metro is opening up key corridors, but most visitors rely on cheap, plentiful ride apps (Uber, Careem). Rent a car for the Edge of the World and out-of-town trips. Distances are large and traffic heavy, so plan around it. Note that some venues close briefly for the five daily prayers.

Safety

Riyadh has very low crime and feels safe day and night. As a conservative city, modest dress is expected: women no longer must wear an abaya but should keep shoulders and knees covered, and men should avoid shorts in public. Alcohol is strictly illegal. Respect prayer-time closures, photography restrictions around government and military sites, and conservative social norms. Solo female travel is increasingly common but still draws attention, so dress modestly and use ride apps at night.
