Getting around
A hire car is the best way to get around - the region is spread out and the Hinterland villages and markets aren't well served by public transport. Buses link the main coastal towns, and Noosa's centre is walkable. Sunshine Coast Airport is at Marcoola, central to the coast; Brisbane Airport is about 90 minutes south.
Safety
Very safe and family-friendly. Swim between the flags - the surf beaches have rips, though Noosa and Caloundra have calmer spots. The Queensland sun is fierce, so use sun protection year-round. Summer brings humidity and occasional afternoon storms, and stinging marine life is rare but possible in warmer months.
