Hyderabad, India: Guia de viagem
The city of pearls and biryani: 400-year-old bazaars, Golconda Fort and India's most fragrant food scene.
- Melhor época: October-February
- Orçamento diário: $25 to $70 USD
- Duração ideal: 2 to 3 days
Hyderabad wears its history in layers: the Qutb Shahi tombs and Golconda Fort of the sultans, the Charminar and pearl bazaars of the Nizams' era, and the glass towers of HITEC City where half of India's tech industry now lives. But everyone is really here for the food: dum biryani, haleem, Irani chai and Osmania biscuits. Joy Plus sequences the old city's chaos and the new city's calm into one delicious itinerary.

Como se deslocar
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is 35km south; the Pushpak airport bus and prepaid taxis take 45 to 90 minutes to the centre. In the city, the metro covers key corridors and is air-conditioned relief; Ola and Uber are cheap and everywhere; auto-rickshaws handle short hops but insist on the meter. The old city is best explored on foot in the morning.
Segurança
Hyderabad is one of India's safer big cities, with low rates of tourist-targeted crime. Standard big-city precautions apply: keep phones and bags close in the crowded bazaars around Charminar, use app taxis at night, and dress modestly when visiting mosques. Drink bottled water, eat where the queues are longest, and carry tissues for street food stops.
Perguntas frequentes
Is Hyderabad worth visiting?
Yes, for two things above all: some of India's finest Indo-Islamic monuments (Golconda, Charminar, the Qutb Shahi tombs) and arguably the country's best food city status, built on dum biryani, haleem and Irani café culture. It's also easy, affordable and less touristy than Delhi or Jaipur.
How many days do you need in Hyderabad?
Two to three. One day for the old city (Charminar, Laad Bazaar, Chowmahalla Palace, Mecca Masjid), one for Golconda Fort and the Qutb Shahi Tombs, and a third for Hussain Sagar, museums and a dedicated biryani-and-café food crawl.
What is the best biryani in Hyderabad?
The eternal local debate. Paradise is the famous name, Shadab near the Charminar is the old-city favourite, and Bawarchi and Shah Ghouse have fierce loyalists. Order the mutton dum biryani, and expect every Hyderabadi you meet to correct your choice.
When is the best time to visit Hyderabad?
October to February, when days are warm (25-30°C) and evenings pleasant. March to June is seriously hot (up to 40°C+), and the monsoon runs June to September with heavy but usually short downpours. Ramadan is a magical time for the old city's night food scene.
How do you get around Hyderabad?
The metro is modern, cheap and covers the main corridors. Ola and Uber are everywhere and inexpensive; auto-rickshaws work for short trips if you insist on the meter or agree a price. Traffic is heavy, so group sights by zone: old city, Golconda, and Banjara Hills/HITEC City.
Is Hyderabad safe for tourists?
Generally yes, with low crime against visitors. The crowded lanes around Charminar require normal pickpocket awareness, and solo women should use app cabs at night. Hyderabadi hospitality is famous; expect to be offered chai and conversation everywhere.
What should I buy in Hyderabad?
Pearls (the city has traded them for centuries; buy from reputable dealers like those on Basheer Bagh), lac bangles from Laad Bazaar, Bidriware metal inlay, Pochampally ikat textiles, and attar (perfume oil) from the old city's tiny shops.
