Getting around
Bozeman Yellowstone International (BZN) is Montana's busiest airport, eight miles from downtown with direct flights from many US cities. A rental car is essential: Yellowstone, Big Sky and the rivers are all 45 minutes to two hours away. Downtown is walkable, and a seasonal Skyline bus runs to Big Sky.
Safety
Bozeman is safe with low crime. The real considerations are wild: this is grizzly country, so carry bear spray on trails and know how to use it. Winter driving on I-90 and through Gallatin Canyon can be icy with ground blizzards. Yellowstone's thermal areas demand staying on boardwalks, and wildlife must be given a wide berth, 100 yards from bears and wolves.
