Getting around

Fly to Denver (90 minutes-2.5 hours depending on I-70 traffic) or Eagle County airport (75 minutes), then shuttle or drive. In town, the free Breckenridge Free Ride buses and the gondola cover everything, so a car is a liability more than a help. Epic Pass holders ski free; day lift tickets bought in advance online are dramatically cheaper than the window.

Safety

Crime is minimal; altitude is the main risk at 9,600 feet, causing headaches and poor sleep, so hydrate, limit alcohol on day one and consider a down-Valley first night if prone to altitude sickness. Winter driving on I-70 requires snow tires or AWD by law. Afternoon lightning clears ridges fast in summer, and tree wells are a real danger for off-piste skiers.
