Getting around

Trains from London King's Cross take 50 minutes to 1h20, and Stansted Airport is 35 minutes away. The centre is compact and mostly pedestrian, and Cambridge is Britain's most cycled city, so bike hire is the local way to move. The station sits a 25-minute walk south of the colleges, linked by frequent buses and taxis.

Safety

Cambridge is very safe; bike theft is the dominant crime and pickpocketing is rare. Punt touts on King's Parade are pushy and overpriced, so book at a riverside station instead. Self-punting is harder than it looks, especially in wind. Colleges close to visitors during exam season from late April to mid-June, and King's Chapel shuts for services and recordings.
