- Jack's Ridge sunset viewpoint over the city and Davao Gulf
- Lake Agko and the hot springs of Maragusan, a mountain day trip
- D'Bone Collector Museum, an odd and wonderful natural history collection
Getting around
Taxis are metered and honest, ride hailing apps (Grab, Maxim, JoyRide) work across the city, and jeepneys cover the main arteries for 15 pesos. Samal Island needs a ferry from Sasa Wharf (10 pesos plus vehicle fees). The airport is 20 minutes from downtown; Mount Apo treks start from Digos, 2 hours south by bus.
Safety
Davao has one of the lowest crime rates of any big Philippine city and is famously strict: no smoking in public, no fireworks, and heavy penalties for drugs. Usual city caution applies at night, and the far south of Mindanao has areas governments advise against; Davao City itself and Samal are considered safe and are heavily policed. Check current advisories before travel.
