- Sunset cocktails from a Makati or BGC rooftop bar.
- The Chinese Cemetery, a surreal 'city of the dead' with mansion-like mausoleums.
Getting around
Manila's traffic is notorious, so plan around it. Grab (ride-hailing) is the easiest and safest way to get around. The LRT and MRT trains avoid gridlock on key corridors but get very crowded. Within districts like BGC, Makati, and Intramuros, walking works. Allow generous time for any cross-city trip and for airport transfers.
Safety
Manila requires city awareness. Use Grab rather than street taxis, keep valuables out of sight, and avoid displaying phones in crowds. Stick to well-known districts (Makati, BGC, Intramuros) at night and avoid quiet or rough areas. Watch for flooding in the rainy season. Drink bottled water.
