Getting around

The historic centre is walkable, and a modern light-rail (Mi Tren) links key areas. For Tlaquepaque, Tonalá and the airport, use Uber/Didi, cheap and reliable. The Tequila day trip is best by tour or train. The city sprawls, so don't expect to walk between districts.

Safety

Guadalajara is one of Mexico's more relaxed big cities and fine for tourists with normal precautions: stick to the well-trodden districts, use Uber/Didi at night, and keep valuables low-key in markets. Tap water isn't drinkable, so stick to bottled. The dry season (October-May) is most pleasant.
