Getting around
Most visitors drive: Springfield-Branson National Airport (SGF) is 50 minutes away, Branson's own airport has limited service, and Kansas City, St. Louis and Tulsa are all a three-to-four-hour drive. A car is essential, as theatres and attractions spread along miles of highway. The Red Route and Blue Route parallel roads let you skip the worst strip traffic.
Safety
Branson is a very low-crime family town. Main concerns are road-related: heavy seasonal traffic on 76 Country Boulevard, steep hills and winding Ozark backroads. On the lakes, wear life jackets and watch for sudden summer storms. Summers are hot and humid; spring brings the region's tornado season, so keep alerts on.
