Getting around

Central Frankfurt is compact and walkable, with the old town, river and museums close together. A fast, integrated U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus network (RMV) covers the city, and the airport is just 15 minutes by train, one of Europe's best-connected hubs. A day pass is good value, and riverside paths are great for walking and cycling.

Safety

Frankfurt is generally safe and easy for solo travellers including women. The main cautions are pickpocketing around the main station and busy areas, and the Bahnhofsviertel near the station, which has a visible drug and red-light scene and can feel uncomfortable at night. Stick to busy, well-lit streets after dark and you'll be fine.
