Getting around
Central Málaga is compact and very walkable, with the old town, port and main beach all close together. The metro, buses and cercanías trains cover longer hops, and the cercanías line links the airport to the centre in about 12 minutes. Buses and trains run along the coast to Marbella, Nerja and the white villages.
Safety
Málaga is a safe, relaxed city and very comfortable for solo travellers including women, day and night. The main risk is petty pickpocketing in crowded spots like Calle Larios, the market and busy beaches in summer. Keep an eye on bags on the beach and use normal city caution, and you'll have no problems.
