Getting around
Sangster International Airport is minutes from the resort strip, with shuttles and pre-booked transfers for arrivals. Route taxis (shared) are cheap for getting around town, while private taxis are pricier; agree fares first. The Knutsford Express coach connects MoBay to Ocho Rios, Negril and Kingston comfortably. For waterfalls and rafting, organised tours include transport. Rent a car only if confident driving on the left on busy roads.
Safety
The resort areas, Hip Strip and Doctor's Cave are well-patrolled and generally safe, but Montego Bay has higher crime in some inner-city neighbourhoods that tourists should avoid. Use licensed (red-plate) taxis or resort transfers, don't wander downtown after dark, and politely decline persistent vendors and drug offers. Watch sea currents, use mosquito repellent, and stick to bottled or filtered water to be safe.
