Getting around
Stuttgart runs on an efficient S-Bahn, U-Bahn and bus network, plus two funiculars and a rack railway up the hills. A day ticket covers the lot and reaches both car museums easily. The airport connects to the centre in about 30 minutes by S-Bahn, and the centre itself is walkable although steep once you leave the valley floor.
Safety
Stuttgart is a safe, prosperous city that's easy for solo travellers including women, with reliable late-night transit at weekends. Petty theft happens around the main station and during large events like the Volksfest, so keep valuables secure in crowds. Otherwise standard European city sense is enough.
