Getting around

BTS Skytrain (45-62 baht per ride) + MRT (17-45 baht) + Chao Phraya river ferry (16 baht orange flag) is the holy trinity. A Rabbit Card pre-loads BTS rides. Avoid taxis at rush hour (4-7pm), Bangkok traffic can turn a 4km trip into 90 minutes. Grab is reliable for late nights. Tuk-tuks are for the experience, not transport, agree the price upfront.

Safety

Very safe for tourists. Watch for tuk-tuk scams ('temple is closed today, let me show you a tailor'), gem scams, and overpriced ping-pong shows. Solo female travellers report Bangkok as one of the easier Asian capitals, nightlife is fine, but skip empty Sukhumvit sois at 3am alone. Tap water is not drinkable; bottled water is everywhere for 7 baht.
