Hidden gems

  • The old Da Lat railway station and a short heritage train ride to Trai Mat.
  • Linh Phuoc Pagoda, covered in mosaic made from broken pottery and glass.
  • Sunrise above the clouds at the Cau Dat tea hills.
  • Tuyen Lam Lake and the surrounding pine forest trails.

Getting around

Central Da Lat is walkable around the lake and market, but the waterfalls, farms and viewpoints are spread out. Rent a motorbike or, more safely, hire an Easy Rider guide for countryside loops. Taxis and ride apps cover shorter trips. Sleeper buses connect Da Lat to Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang and Mui Ne.

Safety

Da Lat is safe with low crime and a relaxed pace. The main risks are road-related, so wear a helmet on motorbikes and consider a guide for hill roads. Nights get genuinely cold, so pack a warm layer. Only book canyoning with licensed operators, as unregulated tours have caused accidents.
