Getting around
Careem and inDrive are the practical way around and cost a few dollars per ride; rickshaws work for short hops if you agree the fare first. Distances are long and traffic is heavy from 8-11am and 5-9pm, so plan two areas a day at most. Jinnah International Airport connects widely across the Gulf, and domestic flights reach Lahore and Islamabad in about 1.5 to 2 hours. Hiring a car and driver for a day runs about $35 to $50.
Safety
Karachi has improved a lot since the 2010s but still needs street sense: phone snatching on bikes is the most common crime, so keep your phone out of sight in traffic and at markets. Stick to Clifton, DHA and Saddar by day and use ride-hailing rather than walking long distances at night. Some Western governments advise against travel to parts of Sindh, which can affect insurance, so check before booking. Most nationalities need a visa, available online.
