Getting around
Poznań-Ławica airport is 15 minutes from the centre, and trains reach Warsaw in about 2h30 and Berlin in under three hours. The old town and cathedral island are walkable, and a dense tram and bus network covers Lake Malta, Jeżyce and the fair grounds cheaply. Trains handle day trips to Gniezno, Toruń and the Wielkopolska lake district.
Safety
Poznań is safe, with drunken behaviour around the Old Market late at night and occasional pickpocketing the main concerns. Match-day crowds near the stadium are best avoided, and unlicensed taxis outside clubs overcharge, so use apps. Winters are cold, dark and icy underfoot, and international trade fairs can triple hotel prices with almost no notice.
