Hidden gems

  • Las Setas (Metropol Parasol) rooftop walkway at sunset.
  • A tapas crawl through Triana's Calle Betis along the river.
  • The Hospital de los Venerables courtyard, a baroque hideaway.
  • Early-morning coffee in the Plaza de Santa Cruz before the crowds.

Getting around

The historic centre is small and made for walking; cars can't reach most of it anyway. A single tram line and city bikes (Sevici) cover longer hops, and taxis or Cabify are cheap at night. Triana is a short walk across the river.

Safety

Seville is very safe, including for solo women in the evening when the streets are busiest. Watch for pickpockets in the cathedral crowds and on packed buses. The real hazard is summer heat, July and August regularly top 40°C, so visit in spring or autumn and rest at midday.
